On Monday 25th May we sent athletes to compete at Morton Stadium, Santry in the following events…600m, High Jump, Long Jump and Shot Putt. The girls travelled by bus with Ms. Hannon, A. Murphy and P. Pettit. There was a great display of skill on the day and all of our girls did us proud. C. O’ Connor took bronze for her High Jump and A. Corr brought a silver medal home to M.H.O.C. for her 600m run.
We held trials in early May in all classes from 3rd-6th for the Santry track day. Teams were selected for each age category and training was held every day after school. All athletes were very dedicated and worked hard at training. We did lots of exercises to make us faster at our sprints and practised how to receive and pass the baton in our relay races. On Friday the 5th we set off to Santry. We were very proud to march with our Mary Help of Christians banner and sing songs in the parade.
We had a very successful day and had lots of winners on the podium. A. Shodiya (Prefab 2) had a fantastic day coming back with 2 medals. Her sprint earned her a bronze medal and the Under 11 Relay team got silver in their final.
